GCN5 functions as a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) to promote transcriptional activation. Acetylation of histones gives a specific tag for epigenetic transcription activation. This protein has significant histone acetyltransferase activity with core histones, but not with nucleosome core particles.
Titration of the GCN5 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 65-94 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this GCN5 antibody.
Aliquot the GCN5 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
