GAL13 Antibody / Placental Lectin Antibody recognizes galectin-13, a beta-galactoside-binding lectin encoded by the LGALS13 gene. Also known as PP13 or placental protein 13, galectin-13 belongs to the galectin family of carbohydrate-binding proteins. Like other galectins, GAL13 contains a carbohydrate-recognition domain that enables interactions with glycan-containing molecules and contributes to its biological activity.
GAL13 is strongly enriched in placental tissue, with expression particularly associated with syncytiotrophoblasts at the maternal-fetal interface. The protein can be released from placental cells into the maternal circulation and has been studied in relation to trophoblast differentiation, placental development and pregnancy. Its distinctive expression pattern makes galectin-13 an important member of the placental galectin family.
Galectin-13 has also been investigated for immunoregulatory functions during pregnancy. Through interactions with maternal immune cells and extracellular glycoconjugates, the protein may contribute to the specialized immune environment that supports placentation and maternal tolerance of the developing fetus. Altered LGALS13 expression and circulating PP13 levels have been studied in association with preeclampsia and other pregnancy complications, linking this placental lectin to research into abnormal placentation and maternal-fetal health.
Clone PP13/1164 is a mouse monoclonal antibody developed against human galectin-13. NSJ Bioreagents provides this GAL13 Antibody for research into LGALS13 expression, trophoblast biology and placental function. A Placental Lectin Antibody targeting galectin-13 can support studies examining carbohydrate-binding proteins and the molecular biology of the maternal-fetal interface.

Titering of the GAL13 Antibody / Placental Lectin Antibody may be required for optimal performance.
A human partial recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 23-134 was used as the immunogen for the Galectin 13 antibody.
Store the Galectin 13 antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
