PP13 Antibody / Placental Protein 13 Antibody recognizes placental protein 13, also known as galectin-13 and encoded by the LGALS13 gene. PP13 is a member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside-binding lectins and contains a characteristic carbohydrate-recognition domain. The approximately 16 kDa monomer can form a disulfide-linked homodimer of approximately 32 kDa, a biochemical feature that has been reported for galectin-13.
Placental protein 13 is strongly associated with placental tissue and is particularly linked to syncytiotrophoblast biology. LGALS13 expression is enriched at the maternal-fetal interface, where the protein has been studied in relation to trophoblast differentiation, placental development and regulation of the local immune environment. PP13 can also be released into the maternal circulation, contributing to its interest as a pregnancy-associated placental protein.
Altered PP13 expression and circulating protein levels have been investigated in connection with preeclampsia and other pregnancy complications. These studies have made placental protein 13 an important target in research examining abnormal placentation, trophoblast dysfunction and maternal-fetal health. In addition to its placenta-associated biology, galectin-13 has been studied for possible roles in cell adhesion, extracellular interactions and immunoregulatory processes.
Clone PP13/1162 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against a recombinant human LGALS13 fragment corresponding to amino acids 23-134 and purified by Protein G affinity chromatography. NSJ Bioreagents provides this PP13 Antibody for research into galectin-13 expression, placental biology and pregnancy-associated processes. A Placental Protein 13 Antibody targeting LGALS13 can support studies examining trophoblast function and the molecular biology of the maternal-fetal interface.

Titering of the PP13 Antibody / Placental Protein 13 Antibody may be required for optimal performance.
A human partial recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 23-134 was used as the immunogen for the Galectin 13 antibody.
Store the Galectin 13 antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
