FASLG Antibody recognizes Fas ligand, a type II transmembrane protein encoded by the FASLG gene and also known as FasL, CD178, CD95L, and TNFSF6. Fas ligand belongs to the tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily and functions as an important regulator of receptor-mediated apoptosis. Interaction of Fas ligand with its receptor Fas (CD95) can initiate programmed cell death, providing a mechanism for controlling immune-cell populations and eliminating damaged or potentially harmful cells.
Binding of Fas ligand promotes clustering of the Fas receptor and recruitment of FADD and other components of the death-inducing signaling complex. This complex activates initiator caspase-8, which subsequently engages downstream executioner caspases responsible for the cellular changes associated with apoptosis. Fas-FasL signaling is therefore a major component of the extrinsic apoptosis pathway and contributes to immune homeostasis, cytotoxic lymphocyte function, and regulation of peripheral immune tolerance.
Fas ligand is associated with activated T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, where it contributes to the elimination of susceptible target cells. FASLG occurs as a membrane-associated protein and can also undergo proteolytic processing to generate a soluble form. Altered Fas-FasL signaling is studied in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, cancer, immune evasion, and conditions involving abnormal lymphocyte survival. These functions make CD178 an important target for research into the molecular relationship between immune regulation and programmed cell death.
This rabbit polyclonal antibody was generated against a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within the middle region of human FASLG. As a CD178 Antibody, it provides a reagent for investigating Fas ligand expression and the biological processes regulated through Fas-FasL interactions. NSJ Bioreagents supplies this antibody for research use only.
A FASLG Antibody can be used to investigate Fas ligand expression and molecular mechanisms connecting death-receptor signaling, extrinsic apoptosis, cytotoxic immune responses, and immune homeostasis.
For a Fas ligand monoclonal with exceptionally strong protein microarray target separation and complementary IHC validation, see our Fas Ligand Antibody FASLG/4455 / CD95L Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the FASLG Antibody / CD178 Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence in the middle region of human FASL/FASLG was used as the immunogen for the FASLG antibody.
After reconstitution, the FASLG antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
