FasL Antibody FASLG/4453 recognizes Fas ligand, a member of the tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily encoded by the FASLG gene. Also known as CD95L, CD178, and TNFSF6, Fas ligand is a type II transmembrane protein with an important role in receptor-mediated apoptosis and immune regulation. Interaction of FasL with its receptor Fas (CD95) provides a mechanism through which cells can initiate programmed cell death in responsive target cells.
Binding of Fas ligand promotes Fas receptor clustering and assembly of the death-inducing signaling complex, which recruits intracellular adaptor proteins and initiator caspases. Activation of caspase-8 subsequently engages downstream executioner caspases responsible for many of the cellular changes associated with apoptosis. This Fas-FasL system is a major component of the extrinsic apoptosis pathway and contributes to the regulation of immune-cell survival and elimination.
Fas ligand is particularly associated with activated T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, where Fas-FasL interactions contribute to cytotoxic immune responses. The pathway also participates in peripheral immune tolerance and the control of activated lymphocyte populations. Altered FASLG expression or signaling is studied in autoimmune disease, inflammatory conditions, cancer, immune evasion, and other disorders involving abnormal regulation of apoptosis. Fas ligand can occur as a membrane-associated protein and may also be released in soluble form following proteolytic processing.
Clone FASLG/4453 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against a portion of amino acids 107-222 of human FASLG. The antibody has also been evaluated on a HuProt protein microarray containing more than 19,000 full-length human proteins to assess target specificity. As a TNFSF6 Antibody, clone FASLG/4453 provides a defined reagent for investigating this tumor necrosis factor ligand family member and its relationship to death-receptor signaling. NSJ Bioreagents supplies FASLG/4453 for research use only.
A FasL Antibody can be used to investigate FASLG expression and molecular mechanisms connecting extrinsic apoptosis, cytotoxic immune responses, immune homeostasis, and disease-associated cell death.
For a Fas ligand monoclonal with exceptionally strong protein microarray target separation and complementary IHC validation, see our Fas Ligand Antibody FASLG/4455 / CD95L Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the FasL Antibody FASLG/4453 / TNFSF6 Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A portin of amino acids 107-222 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the FasL Antibody FASLG/4453.
Aliquot the FasL Antibody FASLG/4453 and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
