Description

Fibroblast activation protein alpha is a homodimeric 170 kDa melanoma membrane-bound gelatinase, protein that in humans is encoded by the FAP gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a homodimeric integral membrane gelatinase belonging to the serine protease family. It is selectively expressed in reactive stromal fibroblasts of epithelial cancers, granulation tissue of healing wounds, and malignant cells of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. This protein is thought to be involved in the control of fibroblast growth or epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development, tissue repair, and epithelial carcinogenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Application Notes

Optimal dilution of the FAP antibody should be determined by the researcher.

Immunogen

A recombinant human partial protein corresponding to amino acids R550-A619 was used as the immunogen for the FAP antibody.

Storage

After reconstitution, the FAP antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
