EVI5 Antibody / Ecotropic viral integration site 5 Antibody detects EVI5, a regulator associated with cell-cycle progression and membrane trafficking. EVI5 contains domains implicated in protein interactions and has been linked to regulation of the small GTPase Rab11, which participates in recycling endosome pathways. Rab-family GTPases help direct membrane carriers to appropriate cellular destinations by cycling between nucleotide-bound states. EVI5 has been described as a Rab11 GTPase-activating protein in experimental systems, connecting it with control of vesicle recycling.
Membrane recycling supports the delivery and retrieval of proteins at the cell surface, including receptors and adhesion molecules. This trafficking must be coordinated with cell growth and division. EVI5 also interacts with regulatory networks governing the timing of mitotic entry and has been associated with centrosomal structures. Studies have described EVI5 in relation to the stability of cell-cycle regulators, including components of pathways controlling the G1-to-S transition. The precise consequences of these interactions depend on cellular context, and EVI5 should not be considered a substitute for the core cyclin-dependent kinase machinery. The Ecotropic viral integration site 5 Antibody designation refers to this same protein target.
Genetic association studies have linked variation near EVI5 to susceptibility signals in multiple sclerosis, although an association at a genomic locus does not by itself establish the causal gene or mechanism. EVI5 is also distinct from EVI5L, a related protein with overlapping family features. The combination of trafficking-related and cell-cycle-associated findings makes EVI5 relevant to questions about how intracellular organization is coordinated with proliferation. NSJ Bioreagents includes EVI5 among targets associated with Rab signaling and cellular regulation. An EVI5 Antibody provides a means of examining the molecular functions associated with EVI5.
