ETV1 Antibody / ETS translocation variant 1 Antibody detects ETV1, an ETS-family transcription factor also known as ER81 and belongs to the PEA3 subgroup alongside ETV4 and ETV5. The protein contains a conserved ETS DNA-binding domain that recognizes purine-rich regulatory sequences in promoters and enhancers. Its transcriptional output depends on the surrounding regulatory elements, cooperating factors, and chromatin environment. ETV1 contributes to gene-expression programs involved in differentiation, tissue development, and cell movement.
ETV1 has important functions in nervous-system development, including the differentiation and connectivity of selected neuronal populations. In the peripheral nervous system, ER81 is involved in the maturation of proprioceptive sensory neurons and the establishment of their appropriate spinal connections. ETV1 also participates in developmental programs outside the nervous system, illustrating how the same DNA-binding factor can regulate distinct sets of genes depending on cell identity.
Mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling can influence ETV1 activity and stability. Altered ETV1 expression or genomic rearrangements have been described in several malignancies. In prostate cancer, ETS-family gene rearrangements can place ETV1 under the control of aberrant regulatory elements, leading to inappropriate expression. ETV1 is also implicated in gastrointestinal stromal tumor biology, where it helps maintain a lineage-associated transcriptional program and cooperates with oncogenic KIT signaling. These relationships are context-dependent and do not imply that ETV1 has the same role in every tumor type.
Understanding ETV1 therefore requires attention to both its DNA-binding function and the upstream signals that determine where and when it acts. Changes in ETV1 activity can alter downstream transcriptional networks without changing the underlying DNA sequence. NSJ Bioreagents provides the ETV1 Antibody as a target-focused reagent within this broader area of transcription-factor biology. An ETV1 Antibody can support investigation of the molecular programs associated with ETS-family regulation.
