ESRP2 Antibody / Epithelial splicing regulatory protein 2 Antibody detects ESRP2, an RNA-binding protein that helps establish epithelial-specific patterns of alternative pre-mRNA splicing. Alternative splicing allows a single gene to produce multiple transcript variants by selecting different exon combinations. ESRP2 recognizes regulatory RNA elements and influences splice-site selection in transcripts involved in cell adhesion, polarity, and epithelial identity. Its functions overlap in part with those of ESRP1, but the two proteins can have distinct expression patterns and regulatory contributions.
Epithelial cells require coordinated control of junctional proteins, membrane receptors, and cytoskeletal regulators to maintain tissue architecture. ESRP2 helps shape the isoforms of some of these proteins, influencing their interactions and biological behavior. The fibroblast growth factor receptor family provides a well-known example of epithelial versus mesenchymal splice-isoform regulation associated with ESRP proteins. These alternative isoforms can differ in ligand recognition and downstream signaling. ESRP2 therefore affects cellular properties through RNA processing rather than by directly altering the underlying DNA sequence. The designation Epithelial splicing regulatory protein 2 Antibody refers to the same gene product.
Changes in epithelial splicing programs are associated with epithelial-to-mesenchymal transitions, developmental remodeling, and tumor progression. ESRP2 expression and activity have been studied in these settings because shifts in splice isoforms can accompany changes in migration, differentiation, and cell-cell adhesion. The effects are transcript-specific and should not be reduced to a single universal outcome. NSJ Bioreagents includes ESRP2 among proteins that connect post-transcriptional gene regulation with the maintenance of epithelial cell identity. An ESRP2 Antibody can help contextualize the molecular functions and regulation of this protein.
