ERO1A Antibody / ERO1-like protein alpha Antibody detects ERO1A, an enzyme that helps establish disulfide bonds during protein maturation in the endoplasmic reticulum. Many secreted and membrane proteins require correctly paired cysteine residues to achieve stable three-dimensional structures. ERO1A supports oxidative protein folding by transferring oxidizing equivalents to protein disulfide isomerase family members, which in turn facilitate disulfide formation in client proteins. ERO1A is a flavin-dependent oxidoreductase and operates within the redox environment of the ER lumen.
Oxidative folding must be carefully balanced because excessive oxidation and insufficient oxidation can both disrupt protein maturation. ERO1A activity is controlled by regulatory disulfide bonds that respond to the redox state of the endoplasmic reticulum. The enzyme transfers electrons ultimately to molecular oxygen, a process that can generate hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct. Consequently, its function intersects with peroxide-handling pathways and the broader ER stress response. ERO1A is distinct from ERO1B, a related isoform with differences in tissue distribution and regulation. The ERO1-like protein alpha Antibody designation refers to this same protein target.
Changes in ERO1A expression have been investigated in settings involving high secretory demand, hypoxia-associated signaling, and tumor biology. These associations reflect the importance of protein-folding capacity for cells producing large amounts of membrane or secreted proteins. However, elevated expression alone does not establish a direct causal role in a particular disease process. ERO1A remains a central molecular link between disulfide bond formation, redox balance, and ER proteostasis. NSJ Bioreagents includes ERO1A among targets involved in oxidative protein folding. An ERO1A Antibody provides a means of examining the molecular functions associated with ERO1A.

An appropriate dilution of the ERO1A Antibody / ERO1-like protein alpha Antibody should be determined empirically before routine use.
The ERO1A Antibody was generated using e. coli-derived human ERO1L/ERO1A recombinant protein (amino acids E24-K341).
The ERO1A Antibody is stable for up to one month at 4oC after reconstitution. For longer-term storage, aliquot and store at -20oC for up to six months. Do not repeatedly freeze and thaw.
