EPDR1 Antibody / Mammalian ependymin-related protein 1 Antibody targets a protein with important roles in cellular biology. Mammalian ependymin-related protein 1 (EPDR1) is a secreted or lumen-associated protein belonging to the ependymin-related family. Its name reflects evolutionary similarity to ependymin proteins originally characterized in aquatic vertebrates, although similarity in sequence does not establish that mammalian EPDR1 performs identical functions. Structural studies have highlighted a protein fold compatible with lipid-associated interactions, providing clues to its possible biochemical activities.
EPDR1 has been studied in relation to extracellular and intracellular environments where protein-lipid interactions may influence cellular behavior. Reports have associated EPDR1 with processes such as cell adhesion, tissue remodeling and changes in cell differentiation, but the molecular mechanisms remain incompletely resolved. It is therefore useful to distinguish experimentally established biochemical properties from broader biological associations. Protein localization may also vary with cellular conditions and processing pathways.
The extracellular environment contains more than structural proteins: soluble factors, lipids and matrix-associated molecules jointly shape how cells perceive their surroundings. An ependymin-related protein with lipid-binding characteristics could participate in these interactions, but its physiological ligands and partners must be identified before a precise mechanism can be assigned. EPDR1 has attracted interest in studies of skeletal and connective tissue biology as well as disease-associated expression changes. These observations suggest several avenues for investigation without establishing a single universal role.
NSJ Bioreagents offers this EPDR1 Antibody to help explore the distribution and regulation of mammalian ependymin-related protein 1 in biological systems. Determining its endogenous binding partners and the significance of its structural features may clarify whether EPDR1 primarily mediates molecular transport, extracellular interactions or other tissue-dependent functions.
