DNER Antibody / Delta/notch like EGF repeat containing Antibody detects DNER, a single-pass transmembrane protein containing multiple extracellular epidermal growth factor-like repeats. DNER is expressed prominently in the nervous system and has been associated with neuronal differentiation and communication between neighboring cells. Its extracellular architecture resembles features found in proteins that participate in Notch-related signaling, but DNER is distinct from canonical Delta-like Notch ligands. The presence of EGF-like repeats provides a structural basis for protein interactions at the cell surface.
During nervous system development, neurons and glial cells coordinate their differentiation through direct contact and locally acting signals. DNER has been implicated in interactions between Purkinje neurons and Bergmann glial cells in the cerebellum. Studies have connected DNER-dependent signaling with glial morphology and the organization of neuronal environments. These findings place DNER within a broader network of cell-contact-mediated regulation rather than establishing it as a universal regulator of all Notch pathways. Its intracellular tail and membrane localization also influence how DNER participates in cell signaling and trafficking. The Delta/notch like EGF repeat containing Antibody designation refers to this same protein target.
DNER has attracted additional attention as an autoantigen associated with anti-Tr antibodies in some cases of paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration. This association links the protein to immune recognition in a particular neurological context, but does not imply that DNER itself initiates the underlying malignancy. Its biological significance spans neuronal surface organization, cerebellar cell interactions, and the molecular identity of certain autoantibody responses. NSJ Bioreagents includes DNER among targets related to nervous system development and membrane-associated signaling. A DNER Antibody provides a means of examining the molecular functions associated with DNER.
