DCBLD2 Antibody / Discoidin, CUB and LCCL domain containing 2 Antibody recognizes DCBLD2, a transmembrane protein also known as ESDN that participates in signaling associated with cell growth, migration, and tissue remodeling. Its extracellular portion contains discoidin-like, CUB, and LCCL-related domains, structural modules found in proteins that mediate diverse extracellular interactions. DCBLD2 also contains a single membrane-spanning region and a cytoplasmic tail with multiple potential tyrosine phosphorylation sites. This organization provides a molecular framework for linking events outside the cell to intracellular signaling complexes.
Phosphorylation of cytoplasmic tyrosines can create docking sites for proteins with phosphotyrosine-recognition domains. In DCBLD2, these modifications have been studied in the context of receptor-associated signaling and the recruitment of intracellular adaptors. The extracellular domains suggest opportunities for molecular recognition, but the presence of such domains does not establish a single universal ligand. DCBLD2 function is better understood through the particular partners and phosphorylation events documented in a given biological setting.
The DCBLD2 Antibody recognizes a receptor-like membrane protein whose phosphorylated cytoplasmic tail can participate in signaling assemblies. DCBLD2 was investigated early in vascular biology, including endothelial and vascular smooth muscle responses to injury. Vascular remodeling requires coordinated changes in cell proliferation, movement, and extracellular matrix interactions. Expression changes in DCBLD2 have been associated with these responses, supporting interest in its role as a regulator or participant in injury-associated signaling. The direction and magnitude of its effects may depend on the cell type and the growth-factor pathways active at the time.
Studies in cancer have also reported altered DCBLD2 expression and associations with aggressive cellular behavior in some tumor contexts. Such observations have prompted work on its interactions with receptor tyrosine kinase networks and downstream signaling proteins. Nevertheless, expression correlations cannot establish whether DCBLD2 drives a particular disease phenotype or responds to broader changes in the tissue environment. Defining the proteins that associate with its extracellular and intracellular regions remains essential for understanding how its unusual domain architecture contributes to signaling specificity during vascular remodeling and malignant progression.
