DANCR Antibody / Putative uncharacterized protein DANCR Antibody is associated with DANCR, a gene best characterized for producing a long noncoding RNA rather than an established functional protein. DANCR stands for differentiation antagonizing non-protein coding RNA, reflecting early findings that its transcript can influence cellular differentiation programs. This distinction matters because the presence of an annotated open reading frame does not by itself demonstrate that a stable, biologically active protein is produced.
DANCR was initially studied in epidermal progenitor cells, where its expression was associated with maintenance of an undifferentiated state. Long noncoding RNAs can regulate gene expression through interactions with RNA-binding proteins, chromatin-associated factors, or other RNAs. Reports concerning DANCR have described interactions with microRNAs and signaling pathways involved in proliferation, differentiation, and migration. Many proposed mechanisms are context-dependent, however, and individual RNA interaction models require direct experimental validation.
DANCR expression has also been examined in developmental biology and multiple cancer settings. Changes in its abundance have been associated with altered cell behavior, but such correlations do not establish whether DANCR is a driver, a downstream response, or a marker of broader transcriptional changes. Distinguishing transcript-dependent effects from hypothetical protein-mediated functions is especially important when interpreting this locus. Evidence of ribosome association or a predicted coding sequence would not alone resolve that question; peptide-level confirmation and functional studies would be needed.
NSJ Bioreagents offers this DANCR Antibody for investigations of the putative protein annotation associated with the DANCR locus, while the gene's best-supported biological identity remains that of a regulatory noncoding RNA. Clarifying whether any endogenous protein product exists would help reconcile protein annotations with the extensive literature on DANCR-dependent RNA regulation.

The optimal working dilution of the DANCR Antibody / Putative uncharacterized protein DANCR Antibody should be determined empirically by the investigator.
The DANCR Antibody was generated using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of mouse DANCR.
After reconstitution, the DANCR Antibody may be stored at 4oC for up to one month. For longer storage, aliquot and freeze at -20oC for up to six months. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
