This gene encodes the alpha 2 chain of type VIII collagen. The protein is a major component of the basement membrane of the corneal endothelium and forms homo- or heterotrimers with alpha 1 (VIII) type collagens. Defects in this gene are associated with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy type 2.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the COL8A2 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 571-599 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the COL8A2 antibody.
Aliquot the COL8A2 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
