Western blot analysis of human pancreas, mouse pancreas, rat pancreas, hamster pancreas, guinea pig pancreas, and rabbit pancreas tissue lysates using CLPS/Colipase antibody (clone CLPS/12806R). A single immunoreactive band is observed at the predicted molecular weight (~12 kDa) for Colipase across all pancreatic samples except rabbit, with comparable signal intensity between species and minimal non-specific background.

Description

CLPS antibody targets Colipase, a small secreted protein encoded by the CLPS gene that functions as an essential cofactor for pancreatic lipase during dietary fat digestion. Colipase binds pancreatic lipase and anchors it to lipid-water interfaces in the presence of bile salts, enabling efficient hydrolysis of triglycerides in the intestinal lumen. Colipase is synthesized primarily by pancreatic acinar cells and secreted into the duodenum, where it plays a critical role in lipid absorption and gastrointestinal physiology. CLPS antibody is therefore of interest in research focused on digestive enzyme regulation, pancreatic exocrine function, and nutrient metabolism.

Colipase is produced as a precursor protein that undergoes proteolytic processing to generate the active mature form. The protein belongs to the colipase family and contains conserved structural features required for lipase interaction and stabilization at the lipid interface. In addition to its classical role in digestion, CLPS expression has been examined in developmental and disease-related contexts involving pancreatic function, malabsorption syndromes, and exocrine pancreatic disorders. Clone CLPS/12806R is designed to recognize Colipase for research use in studies examining CLPS expression and secretion-associated biology.

Altered Colipase expression or activity has been associated with pancreatic insufficiency, lipid malabsorption, and gastrointestinal disease states. Immunogen

A recombinant fragment (around amino acids 1-112) of human CLPS protein (exact sequence is proprietary) was used as the immunogen for the CLPS/Colipase antibody.
