Description

CDw17 Antibody HO18.3G-6.F5 / LaCer Antibody recognizes CDw17, a cell surface glycosphingolipid identified as lactosylceramide (LacCer or LaCer). Unlike many CD antigens that are proteins, CDw17 is a glycolipid composed of a carbohydrate head group linked to ceramide. Lactosylceramide is an important intermediate in glycosphingolipid metabolism and also contributes to membrane organization, cell recognition and signal transduction.

CDw17 is associated with cells of the immune system and has historically been characterized as a leukocyte differentiation antigen. Lactosylceramide is found in glycosphingolipid-enriched membrane domains and can participate in signaling processes that influence cellular activation, adhesion, migration and inflammatory responses. Its biological effects can vary with cell type, membrane composition and the molecular species of the ceramide lipid component.

In myeloid cells, lactosylceramide has been studied in relation to innate immune signaling and cellular responses to external stimuli. LacCer-enriched membrane microdomains can organize signaling molecules and contribute to downstream events involving reactive oxygen species, kinase activity and cytoskeletal regulation. These properties have made CDw17 Antibody reagents useful for investigating leukocyte surface phenotypes as well as the broader role of glycosphingolipids in immune cell biology.

Clone HO18.3G-6.F5 is a mouse monoclonal antibody directed against CDw17/lactosylceramide. Because the recognized antigen is a glycolipid rather than a conventional protein antigen, CDw17 provides a distinct marker for studying membrane lipid composition and glycosphingolipid-associated cellular phenotypes. A LaCer Antibody can also support research into lactosylceramide distribution and its relationship with cell differentiation, membrane signaling and immune responses.

NSJ Bioreagents supplies CDw17 Antibody reagents for research involving leukocyte biology, cell surface markers and glycosphingolipid-associated signaling. A CDw17 Antibody can help researchers investigate lactosylceramide as a membrane-associated marker and its involvement in immune cell recognition, activation and signaling.

For additional research into this leukocyte-associated glycosphingolipid, see our CDw17 Antibody HuLy-m13 / Lactosylceramide Antibody page.
