CD68 Antibody CD68/G2 / Mouse Monoclonal recognizes CD68 using the mouse monoclonal clone CD68/G2. CD68 is a lysosome-associated transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly expressed by macrophages, monocytes and other cells of the mononuclear phagocyte system. Owing to its abundant expression in tissue macrophages, CD68 has become one of the most widely used biomarkers for identifying macrophage populations, evaluating inflammatory infiltrates and studying innate immune responses. NSJ Bioreagents offers CD68 Antibody, clone CD68/G2, to support reproducible detection of CD68 in a variety of immunological and cell biology applications.
CD68 is predominantly localized to lysosomal and endosomal compartments, reflecting the highly phagocytic nature of macrophages. It is expressed by resident macrophages in tissues including liver, spleen, lung, lymph node and brain, where these cells contribute to pathogen clearance, antigen processing, tissue remodeling and immune surveillance. CD68 Antibody, clone CD68/G2 is therefore well suited for studies examining macrophage localization, activation and distribution in normal tissues as well as experimental disease models.
Changes in CD68-positive cell abundance are commonly associated with chronic inflammation, autoimmune disease, infection, fibrosis, cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration and cancer. Quantification of CD68 expression is frequently used to evaluate macrophage infiltration, monitor inflammatory progression and characterize the immune microenvironment. A well-defined mouse monoclonal clone such as CD68/G2 provides researchers with consistent epitope recognition for studies requiring reproducible detection of CD68 across multiple experiments.
A CD68 Antibody is a valuable reagent for detecting macrophages by Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and related immunoassays. Optimal dilution of the CD68 Antibody CD68/G2 should be determined by the researcher.
1. Staining of formalin/paraffin tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Recombinant human protein was used as the immunogen for the CD68 antibody.
Store the CD68 antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
