CD50 Antibody rICAM3/1019 / LFA-1 Ligand CD50 Antibody recognizes CD50, a cell-surface adhesion protein encoded by the ICAM3 gene. Also known as ICAM-3, CD50 belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily of intercellular adhesion molecules and contains five extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains. It is a heavily N-glycosylated transmembrane protein with an apparent molecular weight substantially greater than that predicted from its amino acid sequence.
CD50 is a major ligand for lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), the integrin composed of CD11a and CD18. Interaction between CD50 and LFA-1 contributes to leukocyte adhesion and facilitates contacts between immune cells. Unlike ICAM1, which can be strongly induced on many cell types by inflammatory stimuli, ICAM3 is constitutively expressed at relatively high levels on resting leukocytes. Its expression on lymphocytes and other leukocyte populations allows CD50 to participate in the early cellular interactions that precede and support immune activation.
CD50-LFA-1 interactions have been investigated in T-cell activation, leukocyte adhesion, immune-cell clustering, and communication between lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells. ICAM3 can contribute to the initial formation of cellular contacts and may also participate in signaling events that increase cellular adhesiveness. These functions make CD50 relevant to studies of adaptive immunity, inflammatory responses, leukocyte biology, and mechanisms governing immune-cell interactions.
Clone rICAM3/1019 is a recombinant mouse monoclonal antibody generated using recombinant full-length human ICAM3 protein as the immunogen. It recognizes an epitope within the D1 extracellular domain of CD50. This N-terminal immunoglobulin-like domain contributes to the extracellular architecture through which ICAM3 participates in adhesion-related interactions.
NSJ Bioreagents offers this LFA-1 Ligand CD50 Antibody for research into ICAM3 expression and leukocyte adhesion biology. A CD50 Antibody can support investigation of immune-cell interactions, lymphocyte biology, cell adhesion, and mechanisms involving the ICAM3-LFA-1 adhesion system.
