CD36 Antibody CEM Cells FACS. Flow cytometric analysis of human CEM cells was performed using a CD36 antibody followed by a FITC conjugated goat anti rabbit secondary antibody. CD36, also known as Fatty Acid Translocase, is a multifunctional scavenger receptor involved in long chain fatty acid uptake, lipid metabolism, and immune regulation. Top histogram: negative control. Bottom histogram: CD36 antibody. The rightward shift of the CD36 antibody signal relative to the negative control demonstrates specific detection of endogenous CD36 expression in CEM cells. These results support the utility of CD36 Antibody for studies of fatty acid transport, scavenger receptor biology, inflammation, and metabolic disease.
CD36 Antibody HepG2 Cells IF. Confocal immunofluorescent analysis of HepG2 cells demonstrates CD36 expression using a CD36 antibody followed by an Alexa Fluor 488 conjugated goat anti rabbit IgG secondary antibody (green). CD36, also known as Fatty Acid Translocase, is a multifunctional scavenger receptor that mediates long chain fatty acid uptake and contributes to lipid metabolism and cellular energy homeostasis. Predominantly membranous and cytoplasmic staining is observed, consistent with the known localization of CD36 in metabolically active cells. DAPI nuclear counterstain identifies cell nuclei (blue). These results support the utility of CD36 Antibody for studies of fatty acid transport, scavenger receptor biology, metabolic regulation, and cancer metabolism.
CD36 Antibody Hepatocarcinoma IHC. Immunohistochemical staining of FFPE human hepatocarcinoma demonstrates CD36 expression using a CD36 antibody. CD36, also known as Fatty Acid Translocase, is a multifunctional scavenger receptor that mediates long chain fatty acid uptake and contributes to lipid metabolism, cellular energy homeostasis, and tumor progression. Prominent membranous and cytoplasmic staining is observed in malignant hepatocytes, consistent with the increased fatty acid utilization and metabolic reprogramming associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. These results support the utility of CD36 Antibody for studies of cancer metabolism, lipid transport, and scavenger receptor biology.

Description

CD36 antibody specifically detects CD36/Platelet glycoprotein 4, the fourth major glycoprotein of the platelet surface and serves as a receptor for thrombospondin in platelets and various cell lines. Since thrombospondins are widely distributed proteins involved in a variety of adhesive processes, this protein may have important functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. It directly mediates cytoadherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes and it binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport. Mutations in its gene cause platelet glycoprotein deficiency.

Application Notes

Titration of the CD36 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.

Immunogen

A portion of amino acids 213-242 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this CD36 antibody.

Storage

Aliquot the CD36 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
