CD168 Antibody / RHAMM Antibody recognizes CD168, a multifunctional hyaluronan-associated protein encoded by the HMMR gene. Also widely known as RHAMM, the receptor for hyaluronan-mediated motility, this protein participates in cell migration, cytoskeletal organization and cell-cycle regulation. HMMR can occupy extracellular, cell-associated and intracellular locations depending on cellular context, allowing it to participate in distinct mechanisms involving hyaluronan signaling and cytoskeletal dynamics.
Intracellular CD168 associates with microtubules, centrosomes and mitotic spindle structures. These interactions contribute to spindle organization, chromosome segregation and progression through mitosis. RHAMM also interacts with proteins involved in microtubule organization and motor activity, connecting its function to the dynamic cytoskeletal rearrangements required during cell division.
CD168 has additionally been associated with hyaluronan-dependent cell motility and growth factor signaling. Interactions involving hyaluronan, cytoskeletal components and MAPK pathway proteins can influence cellular migration and proliferation. A RHAMM Antibody can therefore support research into mechanisms linking extracellular matrix signals with intracellular cytoskeletal organization and proliferative responses.
CD168 is extensively investigated in cancer biology. Increased HMMR expression has been reported in multiple malignancies and has been associated with tumor-cell proliferation, invasion and disease progression. Its combined functions in mitosis, migration and cytoskeletal regulation provide several mechanisms through which altered CD168 expression may contribute to malignant cell behavior.
This rabbit polyclonal CD168 Antibody was generated against a C-terminal region spanning amino acids 668-697 of human HMMR and is antigen affinity purified. For a broadly targeted reagent and our primary HMMR resource, see our HMMR Antibody / Hyaluronan-Mediated Motility Receptor Antibody page. NSJ Bioreagents provides antibodies for research into cell motility, mitosis and cancer biology. A CD168 Antibody provides a research tool for investigating RHAMM/HMMR and its roles in cytoskeletal regulation, cell migration and tumor biology.
For a broadly targeted reagent and our primary HMMR resource, see our HMMR Antibody / Hyaluronan-Mediated Motility Receptor Antibody page.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the CD168 Antibody / RHAMM Antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 668-697 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the CD168 antibody.
Aliquot the CD168 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
