CD13 Antibody WM15 / Myeloid Antigen Antibody recognizes CD13, a 150 kDa cell surface glycoprotein encoded by the ANPEP gene. Also known as aminopeptidase N (APN), CD13 is a membrane-bound zinc-dependent metalloprotease that removes N-terminal amino acids from peptides and contributes to the metabolism of biologically active peptides. CD13 is expressed on numerous cell types, including granulocytes, monocytes, myeloid progenitors, endothelial cells and epithelial cells of the renal proximal tubules and intestinal brush border.
Within the hematopoietic system, CD13 is an established myeloid antigen expressed on most cells of myeloid origin. It is also frequently expressed in acute myeloid leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia during myeloid blast crisis, while normal lymphocytes, platelets and erythrocytes generally lack CD13 expression. This lineage-associated distribution has made CD13 useful for research into myeloid cell differentiation, hematopoiesis and hematologic malignancies. Beyond its role as a cellular marker, ANPEP/CD13 participates in peptide metabolism, phagocytosis and other processes associated with immune and cellular function.
Clone WM15 is a well-established mouse monoclonal antibody generated using human AML cells as the immunogen. It recognizes an extracellular epitope of human CD13, making the clone particularly relevant to studies examining cell surface expression of this myeloid antigen. WM15 has an extensive history of use in published research, and independent characterization has also established its use for flow cytometric detection of CD13.
This purified mouse IgG1 monoclonal antibody is validated for flow cytometry and immunofluorescence detection of human CD13. NSJ Bioreagents provides this CD13 Antibody for research into ANPEP expression, myeloid differentiation, hematologic malignancies and related cellular biology. A Myeloid Antigen Antibody targeting CD13 can support studies examining the expression and cell surface distribution of this widely studied myeloid marker.
