Description

Activating transcription factor 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATF2 gene. This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the leucine zipper family of DNA-binding proteins. It binds to the cAMP-responsive element (CRE), an octameric palindrome. ATF2 forms a homodimer or heterodimer with c-Jun and stimulates CRE-dependent transcription. It is also a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that specifically acetylates histones H2B and H4 in vitro, thus, it may represent a class of sequence-specific factors that activate transcription by direct effects on chromatin components. Additional transcript variants have been identified but their biological validity has not been determined.

Application Notes

The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the ATF2 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.

Immunogen

Human partial recombinant protein (AA 93-450) was used as the immunogen for this ATF2 antibody.

Storage

After reconstitution, the ATF2 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
