AChR alpha, also called CHRNA, is mapped on 2q24-q32. This gene encodes the alpha subunit of the muscle acetylcholine receptor, which is the main target of pathogenic autoantibodies in autoimmune myasthenia gravis. The protein-coding sequence of the human alpha subunit gene is divided into 9 exons that correspond to different structural and functional domains of the precursor molecule.
Titration of the AChR antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
Amino acids 22-36 (EHETRLVAKLFKDYS) from the alpha subunit were used as the immunogen for this nicotinic AChR antibody (100% homologous in human and rat).
Store the lyophilized AChR antibody at 4oC. After reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
