During apoptosis, toxic or useless cells are broken down for removal. DFF, or DNA fragmentation factor, is a heterodimeric protein which mediates DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation during apoptosis. DFFB is the active DFF subunit but remains inactive while bound to DFFA, also call ICAD (Inhibitor of caspase-activated DNase). Caspase-3 cleaves ICAD, which then disassociates from DFFB. The disassociation removes the inhibitory effects of ICAD, activating DFFB and beginning the DNA fragmentation process.
Provided assay concentrations are suggestions only, antibody titration may be required for optimal results.
A recombinant protein fragment from human ICAD was used as the immunogen for this antibody.
Aliquot the antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Inhibitor of CAD, DFF45, DFFA
