GFAP is one of the major intermediate filament proteins of mature astrocytes. It is used as a marker to distinguish astrocytes from other glial cells during development. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system.
Titration of the GFAP antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 10-40 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this GFAP antibody.
Aliquot the GFAP antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
