Description

Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4, is a 70-amino acid protein that is released from the alpha-granules of activated platelets and binds with high affinity to heparin. It belongs to the CXC chemokine family. The gene contains 3 exons spanning approximately 1 kb. It is encoded on a 10-kb EcoRI fragment of genomic DNA. By in situ hybridization, the gene is mapped to chromosome 4q12-q21. CXCL4s major physiologic role appears to be neutralization of heparin-like molecules on the endothelial surface of blood vessels, thereby inhibiting local antithrombin III activity and promoting coagulation. As a strong chemoattractant for neutrophils and fibroblasts, the cytokine probably has a role in inflammation and wound repair.

Application Notes

The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the CXCL4 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.

Immunogen

Amino acids 85-101 (DLQAPLYKKIIKKLLES-human) were used as the immunogen for this CXCL4 antibody.

Storage

After reconstitution, the CXCL4 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
