Description

Catechol O-methyltransferase, also called COMT, is one of the major mammalian enzymes involved in the metabolic degradation of catecholamines. Catalyzes the O-methylation, and thereby the inactivation, of catecholamine neurotransmitters and catechol hormones. Also shortens the biological half-lives of certain neuroactive drugs, like L-DOPA, alpha-methyl DOPA and isoproterenol. [UniProt]

Application Notes

Optimal dilution of the COMT antibody should be determined by the researcher.

Immunogen

Amino acids 52-271 of human COMT were used as the immunogen for the COMT antibody.

Storage

After reconstitution, the COMT antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
