This gene encodes an intracellular calcium-binding protein belonging to the troponin C superfamily. Members of this protein family have six EF-hand domains which bind calcium. Calretinin/Calbindin 2 plays a role in diverse cellular functions, including message targeting and intracellular calcium buffering. It also functions as a modulator of neuronal excitability, and is a diagnostic marker for some human diseases, including Hirschsprung disease and some cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [RefSeq]

1. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
A portion of amino acids 23-242 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the Calretinin antibody.
Store the Calretinin antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
